WRITING

As a Journalism student at Brigham Young University, I benefitted from a hands on education that allowed me to cover and write news stories for the Daily Universe. With an emphasis in Sports Media, I was enthusiastic about covering news for the sports desk. During my time as a sports reporter, I fell in love with the beauty of human interest sports stories - the beauty beyond the field. 

Not even two herniated discs from a workout injury, surgery and sitting out fall camp could deter BYU defensive lineman Lorenzo Fauatea’s determination to play in the 2021 football season.

BYU hurdler Adaobi Tabugbo grew up with five brothers and felt like she always had to be competitive and go the extra mile to be seen. So it was no shocker when she took first place in the 60-meter hurdles and second in the 60-meter dash at the BYU Invite in December while recovering from a hamstring injury.

Several notable Black athletes have led the way throughout the history of BYU athletics, including most recently BYU men’s basketball against Loyola Marymount on Feb. 10, which included the first starting lineup to ever feature four Black players.
